With bright sunshine replacing the damp conditions of the previous day, Ferrari and Toro Rosso tested for a second day at the Italian circuit of Mugello on Wednesday. Ferrari tester Luca Badoer continued behind the wheel of the F2007, while Toro Rosso’s Vitantonio Liuzzi handed over the STR2 to team mate Scott Speed.

Badoer was fastest around the 5.245 kilometre track, clocking a quickest time of 1m 21.847s. The Italian covered 82 laps as he carried out evaluations on new aerodynamic and mechanical parts, ahead of August’s Hungarian Grand Prix. Race driver Felipe Massa will be in charge of Ferrari driving duties on Thursday.

Speed, meanwhile, endured a much more difficult session and clocked a best lap of 1m 24.097s. Having already suffered an electrical fault in the morning, the American’s Toro Rosso also succumbed to a coolant leak in the afternoon and Speed only managed to complete 42 laps. He will continue to test on Thursday.
